Alan Is The Proud Recipient Of The Trevor Jinks Cup

17th January 2022

Trevor Jinks Sensei trained at the club for over 25 years from the mid '80s until his retirement in 2010. In that time, despite his advanced years he eventually managed to achieved his Shodan (1st Dan). This was through sheer persistence and determined effort over many, many years.

Although Trevor is sadly no longer with us, his memory lives on in the annual presentation of the Trevor Jinks cup. Ostensibly a recognition of overcoming challenges and succeeding through hard work and commitment, it is also often given to a student who, like Trevor, simply sets their mind on a goal, and does everything possible to achieve it.

Alan personifies these qualities. He trains consistently and intelligently. He spots the flaws and shortcomings in his karate and works diligently to try to fix them. He works hard to improve his technique and knowledge of kata in and out of the dojo, and has over the years become a valued senior member of our club.

Congratulations Alan - well deserved!
